Firstly hello again! Sorry it has all been a bit quiet but with expo and starting a new job everything has been a little crazy! I will write about expo in another post, but whilst in London we took a trip to the Kiko store. It is an Italian brand of cosmetics and I have got to say I am sold. It is a little cheaper than Illamasqua and such, so it was worth picking up a few supplies.
I got:
Vibrant eye pencil (603)
Mineral face powder
High pigmented eyeshadow Infinity (239, 217, 213, 280, 200)
Waterproof and curling mascara
The browns I got mainly for contouring, the blue is for an upcoming cosplay. The face powder is amazing, I used to use MAC but this is just as good and a lot cheaper. It feels really light and smooth, and I would happily recommend it. I also got a box for their clicks system eye shadow; which means I now have something I can call a “pallet” lol! The mascara works well; they have a huge variety of different types. To be honest I would like to go back there, to pick a few more things up!
Browns next to each other. (On my forearm, resting on my leg haha)
On the subject of new make up, I just wanted to say that I have started using Missha BB cream (matte) and I would again recommend this for anyone who wants to look a little more flawless but natural, and it may be good for male cosplayers who are a little shy on using make-up or who just want good coverage! I can’t say much cause I plaster myself in stuff for cosplays, but it is very useful for every day good looking skin! Excuse my cat scratches!
Also, a shoutout to Sugarpill Cosmetics! As you can probably see from the banner I am advertising them on my blog, but for a good reason, because their pigment is too amazing not to work with. I believe their white to be more intense than Illamasqua, and I really like both brands. I also have some eyelashes from them and they look amazing.
Their TAKO white is the best tbh. The other colour is BULLETPROOF.
I’m gonna apologise about lack of pics, and not much showing things as it getting late as my mind has been a bit all over the place recently, but I promise I will write about expo, and I will be getting a Taobao order come through soon so will be reviewing clothing and wig shops!
I think I felt like writing so I will post about last weekends excursion to London.
We basically took a trip down to London on the day for our friend Finlay’s leaving costume party (and birthday). I posted about clubbing with her a few posts back, and as she is a proper laugh to hang around with it was a little sad to think she is going!
Charlie made Titan themed cupcakes for the occasion (which tasted great but sadly died in transport down). We had a mad rush for the coach (which turned out to be late) and travelled down in style (in costume, haha). Also had lovely drinks on the way down of kokomo.
My fantasy costume consisted of a bit of randomness, I think I came out with a vampire demon pirate thing. Charlie did a ever so slightly Vald demon thing (which I do not have many pics of sadly).
I felt like I ended up looking a bit shironuri lol.
The party itself was held at the Yorkshire Grey pub, it was closed purposely for the event which was quite nice, but my god even for London the drinks were expensive. There were many people we did not know there, but we have made a few friends from the event now, one of which who actually lives in Birmingham! It’s always fun to meet people local!
We did get pretty drunk and tbh the night ended in us dancing to the Attack on Titan theme and a load of Die Antwoord (ironically someone who worked there was South African and knew Ninja when he was Watkin), shouting COOONIE SPRINGAAA everywhere, and Charlie shaking hands with people. I remember also I was told to be a titan. It was a very titan night.
Finlay it has been fun, enjoy your time in France and Japan, and hope to see you again in a while!
We ended up waiting for our coach back the morning after by doing an all nighter in various McDonalds and Victoria Station. Then it was back home, and a well deserved sleep.
So, the girl we met in at the party is cosplaying Hanji (and now likely joining our London Expo group), and the photographer we met wants to take pics at the same event! Lovely meeting people like this :D.
Tomorrow we are going to go to meet some of the people from the Birmingham Cosplay Guild for the first time, and Sunday I have a cosplay shoot with DeclineGothica, so I will probably have a post about those too!
Just a quick post to show progress on Badou, I am really excited to do this in August at Ayacon! (Along with Farfarello, Rayflo, and possibly Murdoc).
Wig is from Taobao, blind contact is from FunnyLens.de and Blue contact is from Pinky Paradise.
And greatly thanks to Illamasqua once again, Charlie’s clown white theatrical paint, and a fuck load of booze.
And that was me after I was all drunk out.
This weekend we went to the event “Memorabilia/MCM“, based in Birmingham in the NEC. It’s held twice a year in March and November.
Compared to similar events, it was really chilled, really comfortable. We only went for the one day, and dressed as Gorillaz, Plastic Beach era. Our Noodley friend was going to the event too so it was a good chance to get some group pictures (sadly our Russ couldn’t make it).
Charlie did my makeup for me today as he is trained in it, and could give me the later Murdoc appearance I would struggle at doing. In return I ironed. He got to try out new water liner for the costume too which was exciting.
We got a taxi to the train station and hopped on with JD and Coke in hand, noticing other cosplayers on the train too. I always think that is nice to see in such events, even if I don’t have a clue what they were wearing.
The con itself is £10 entry, and offers stalls, guests, talks and shows, much like London Expo (but a lot smaller and much less busier).
We got to see some old and lovely faces, and also meet some new ones.
Bumped into Angie whom appears in a couple of our photos and met up with our Noodle.
And had many lovely people asking us for pictures! They are all floating about on the internet at the moment, if you see any feel free to give me a bell!
Also Foxy took us some group pictures, which was fantastic. These are in the editing process at the moment but if you are interested in seeing any of these, you will be able to find them most likely here or here.
We met two lovely ladies one of which sweetly gave us a postcard of her art, and her website can be found here.
After a while we ended up drinking cider at the bar. Then everything goes a bit fuzzy really. Ended up going home and drinking tea.
So, as I did it last week I thought I would do it again tonight, and play a bit with make-up again!
A friend had posted about Murdoc (Gorillaz) jokingly dressing like this after doing one of those Facebook friend things, so I thought I would do something..inspired-ish by it. Now I don’t really have anything to make myself purple, just green lol, so I used the pale foundation I have with a very light layering of purple eye shadow over just to give my face a bit of er..fantasy colour? I really was just playing about tonight to be honest. I feel quite draggy which is something I have wanted to try for a while, but that’s for another day. The lipstick is Illamasqua “Diablo” but it looks like they may of stopped doing that. I put a little black on the edges.
I was also playing about with filters with the pics (taken once again on an Iphone 4S) using:
Images:
This one without any filters but can’t really see anything.
iDarkroom brown and purple:

A lot of the images I couldn’t get to look right which is why I have repeating ones.
Now to curl up on the sofa and watch some DVDs.
Things to do on a Saturday night huh? It’s not particularly nice weather at the moment in England, so while Charlie was making his blog look all cool and that (and getting his fur collar thing nicked) I grabbed the palettes and brushes and slapped a face on. I have been looking at this “Minori” girl and this “Shironuri” style, and I don’t have the equipment or skills to do such thing, but I did something loosely inspired by it all (which ended up just being more playing around).
That said, here is a run down of things I used;
